4900 Valley Oak

The 4900 Valley Oak house began as another renovation to an already much-renovated mid-century modern dwelling. During our preliminary site visits we moved quickly away from a simple renovation/restoration. This led us to try to salvage the pieces of the existing home that would work with a more modern and open design. We had a very inclusive collaboration with the owner, builder and consultants that resulted in a very consensus driven design. We incorporated the original footprint and stonework into the design, using a glass gallery addition, a higher roofline and open interior spaces as modern alterations.

The 4900 Valley Oak house was featured in the American Institute of Architects Austin Homes Tour 2009.
