Travisso Amenity Center

Travisso Amenity Center

The Travisso amenity center and clubhouse takes on contemporary design ideas and blends these ideas seamlessly into the built environment.  Situated on top of a hill that overlooks a bluff and miles of hill country, the interior and exterior spaces are arranged in a tiered pattern that overlooks the water. The main clubhouse uses cast-in-place concrete with board forms to create a central entry point and gathering space. the other functions of the building, such as, a fitness facility and multi-purpose room flank the concrete walls. With exposed structure on the interior, and a low floor-to-roof dimension, the scale of the clubhouse works harmoniously with the landscape.

The outdoor spaces tier down the bluff and create multiple spaces within the site. A large pool lies on one tier, while cabanas and other lounge spaces are arranged on another tier of the landscape, creating more intimate spaces.  Fitness facility and multi-purpose rooms utilize Euro-Wall accordion glass doors, to blend the interior with the exterior, and allow for some functions, like group yoga classes or children’s birthday celebrations, to take full advantage of the Texas weather and cool breezes across the site. Included on the site are other recreational activities for the whole family; including pickleball courts, basketball hoops, bocce ball courts, shaded picnic

areas, playgrounds, as well as a nature trail beginning at the top of the site and winding its way down to the water feature at the bottom.

Travisso uses materials that complement the other houses and residences within the neighborhood, while also being a landmark to the neighborhood. The utilization of large expanses of glass offsetting the cold, board-form concrete walls and warm colors of the tongue and groove wood siding on the façade.
