American Constructors, Inc. Awarded National ABC Eagle

American Constructors, Inc. is honored to announce its recent National Excellence in Construction Eagle Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for its work on The Girls’ School of Austin New Campus project in Austin, TX. Company representatives, project manager Carlos Canedo and superintendent Mitch Hayward, received the award March 5 during the 25th annual Excellence in Construction Awards celebration in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

In just eight months—and despite 23 lost workdays due to rain—American Constructors, Inc. collaborated with project stakeholders under an accelerated schedule to complete a five-building school campus featuring gardens, play areas, and a green roof. Because of the compact nature of the site, its location in a residential neighborhood, and the aggressive completion schedule, Canedo and Hayward established a fast pace from the beginning of the project and maintained it throughout.

“The project team was extremely helpful in ensuring we didn’t fall behind. The Girls’ School of Austin made timely decisions and the architect, Haddon+Cowan, was open to our design suggestions,” says Canedo. “This group made it easy to foster an environment of open communication and quick problem-solving.”

“This was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had working on a project,” says Canedo. “It’s really gratifying to see the kids so excited about their new school.”

“We’re proud to receive such a prestigious award from ABC and thank the project team for their hard work in making this project such a success,” says Marty Burger, vice president of American Constructors, Inc.

As seen in the Austin Business Journal –  Four Austin-area projects won top honors at the Associated Builders and Contractors National Excellence in Construction Awards held recently in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Austin-based American Constructors, Inc. won an Eagle citation — the highest award — for The Girls’ School of Austin campus. It won in the institutional category for projects valued at less than $5 million.

The Girls’ School of Austin project encompassed a five-building school campus, located at 2007 McCall Road, features gardens, play areas and a green roof. The private school was founded in 2002.

Haddon+Cowan Architects Collaborative was the designer and DCI Engineers was the engineering consultant. Both are Austin firms.
